TRAVERSE CITY – Quick reactions helped stop the spread of a house fire in Traverse City on Tuesday morning.
The Traverse City Fire Department, alongside Traverse City Police, Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services, and MMR EMS, swiftly responded to a reported house fire at 1005 Pine Street around 5:04 a.m.
A neighbor at West 13th Street smelled smoke and promptly called 911, officials said.
Upon arrival, TCFD Engine 01 confirmed that the fire was located in the attic of the residence at 1005 Pine Street. Fire crews quickly made entry into the home, successfully evacuating three occupants and one dog, officials said.
The fire was contained to the attic, preventing further spread throughout the structure.
Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be a failure of an electrical circuit and wiring in the attic, officials said.
No injuries were reported among the occupants or emergency personnel.
The residence sustained minor damage, and the occupants are currently arranging for temporary lodging while repairs are underway.
Fire units cleared the scene at 6:50 a.m.
