TRAVERSE CITY - If you drive through a busy intersection in Traverse City, you will want to find an alternate route for the next several weeks.
“It’s working with a lot of our government partners,” says Jonny Tornga, Outreach Coordinator for TART Trails, “It’s working with a lot of our government partners. To come up with the plan that works best for all parties involved.”
The intersection of M-22 and M-72 next to Tom’s West Bay is closed for the next 4 to 6 weeks.
Team Elmer’s will be moving the underground utilities for Traverse City Light and Power And DTE. This is all being done before the road construction begins in April.
The TART Trail runs through the intersection and Tornga explains why it’s important to be cautious of your surroundings.
“There is signage out there, but please do be careful. Cars are not used to seeing, pedestrians and bikers crossing. Where this detour is going to have you cross across to. M-22. So, that is kind of, the point where we want to make sure people are very cautious when making that crossing.”
The intersection will be closed again beginning in April for the construction of a round-a-bout.
