UPDATE: 5:59 p.m. 2/5/2025

Wexford County is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel after being hit with a ransomware attack. But it’s going to cost them thousands of dollars to recover.

The county administrator says county commissioners will be presented with contract bids that could cost the county $275,000 next week.

That money would go towards restoring county offices and for upgrades to prevent future cyberattacks.

County administrator, Joe Porterfield said they’re hoping that could bring the register of deeds office fully online in two months.

Wexford County has been dealing with the fallout from the cyber-attack since November.
