TRAVERSE CITY - Singer-songwriter Ryan Whyte Maloney, a Traverse City native who wowed the judges on Season 6 of “The Voice,” has died at age 44, numerous outlets reported.
People initially reported on the death of the 2014 Team Blake star, and USA Today and other media outlets picked up the story. The Clark County (Nevada) Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner confirmed the death to USA Today.
Maloney performed at the National Cherry Festival and wasn’t a stranger to his hometown. Several years ago, he hosted a benefit concert in Traverse City at the Opera House. Ahead of that performance, he sat down to talk to 9&10′s Bill Froehlich - you can watch the interview here.
