CADILLAC — The Cadillac community development department has received a site plan to build a Dunkin’ coffee and doughnut shop.

The new shop will be located at 1011 S. Mitchell St., previously a Kentucky Fried Chicken and more recently a Christian book store.

The developers have not yet provided details on the types of doughnuts or items that will be offered at the location.

The project is still in the review phase, and if the site plan is approved construction can begin according to Downtown Development Director John Wallace.

Wallace said the plans are being drawn up and the city is working alongside the company to ensure the planning phase goes smoothly.

“We were just asking for a couple of small changes to the site plan, and we sent that back to about a week or so ago but we haven’t heard back whether they’re on board with making those changes,” Wallace said. “If they are, then they would have full site plan approval from the city. They’ve not indicated how quickly things will move forward once plans are approved. I would assume that it probably would be in the spring. They haven’t given us a timeframe. Usually, when you go to this length to draw up plans and spend all this money, usually means you’re serious about moving forward.”

There are more than 12,000 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in 45 countries. The company has updated its menu offerings seasonally, with a beverage lineup including rainforest alliance certified cark roast coffee, cold brew, Macchiato, premium hot teas and more.

Wallace said the city looks forward to welcoming a new business into town and revitalizing an existing building.

“We’re looking forward to another quality business in town,” Wallace said. “Seems like we’re on the upswing now here, we’ve been seeing quite a few people come into town now and start new businesses. It’s going to be good to see that building get totally rehabbed.”

The company created the Dunkin’ Mobile App, allowing guests to pay right on their phones, find the nearest location, access their DD Perks account to find mobile coupons and offers, and more. In 2024, the company added On-the-Go Ordering, which allows DD Perks members to place a mobile order in advance, pick it up, and go.

Information on what rewards programs may be offered at the new Cadillac location has not yet been released.
