This week’s Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education winner is Michelle Cox from Brick Elementary School.
Q: You are also a Title One teacher and family coordinator. Tell me about that work.
A: Well, I’m lucky enough to get to work with all of our kids. Young fives through fifth grade, so that’s awesome. So I get to build strong relationships with them and their families because I service the entire family. When their basic needs aren’t met then they’re not learning. So, and a lot of times it starts at home. So I advocate for the families and for the students.
