On Monday, Jan. 20, around 12:45 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post were called to a crash on US-131 near Corey Road in Chestonia Township.
They said a 2022 Chrysler Voyager was headed north on US-131, driven by a woman from Boyne City, and a 2012 GMC Acadia was headed south, driven by a woman from Mancelona, when the Chrysler driver lost control, crossed the center line and struck the GMC.
The Chrysler driver was killed, and the driver of the GMC was taken to McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey with non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
