With the temperatures dropping, it is not just humans and their pets that are affected, but also the variety of wildlife that call Northern Michigan home. As the weather continues to be perilous you may find yourself witnessing an animal in distress. For the most part it is always advised to leave these animals alone, they have natural defenses and bothering may make the problem worse.
If you are feeling as though the animals life is on the line, reach out to A.R.K. the association to rescue kritters as they are experts in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. Once an animal is brought into their facility they will go through quarantine to not risk the other animals that call A.R.K. home before entering into their outdoor enclosures.
Although the goal of A.R.K. is to rehab and release, some animals are not capable of surviving in the wild and will potentially live out their days at the facility or become animal ambassadors, spreading awareness for the importance of wildlife protection.
