TRAVERSE CITY - Skiers are having a good season with all the snow on the ground in northern Michigan and while they still want to get out there even in these temps, it’s important for them to be cautious in the cold weather.
When skiing, you may not be as aware of how cold you actually are, so, it’s important to layer up and check in on how you are feeling.
If you start to feel numb in your fingers and toes, Mount holiday in Traverse City has spots in their lodge for skiers and snowboarders to warm up before heading back out.
“This is this is a different situation than like even ten degrees, you know, when it gets down to zero or fours. And then the real feel, the wind is that like -14 real fast. You can you can get you can get a lot colder than you would and you wouldn’t even really notice it,” explains Jim Pearson, Mount Holiday Executive Director.
If you are out skiing and snowboarding with friends make sure to check in on one another and if you notice signs of frost bite, head inside.
