CADILLAC — A bomb threat at 9&10 News kept us off the air Friday morning, but the suspect has been arrested.
Wexford County deputies said the bomb threat was first called in a little after midnight. OnStar reported that a 64-year-old man from Lake was on the 9&10 property in Cadillac and claimed he had a bomb.
Multiple agencies including the Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Wexford County Emergency Management and the Cadillac Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.
Entrances to the station were blocked off while MSP bomb squads and K-9s searched the property, building and car but found no explosives. The Lake man was arrested without incident. As for his motive:
“No motive, no motive at all. Communication with the suspect was difficult. He wasn’t forthright with a whole lot of information, but [it’s] still under investigation,” said Sheriff Trent Taylor.
Our Michigan This Morning team was not allowed to enter the building until 3:30 a.m., delaying our broadcast until around 6 a.m.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon, although we do not know the exact charges at this time.
