Mecosta Co. man arrested on child sex crime charges after internet investigation

MECOSTA COUNTY - The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Wednesday, Jan. 15, announced the arrest of Lukas Munro, 25, of Mecosta County, on a variety of child sex crime charges.

Munro is charged with criminal sexual conduct – 1st degree (person under 13), criminal sexual conduct – 2nd degree (person under13), aggravated child sexually abusive activity, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime.

Munro was arrested in Grand Rapids after an investigation that was initiated when it was learned that Munro allegedly was creating and uploading files of child sexually abusive material on the internet, according to state police.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan Department of Corrections and Grand Rapids Police Department assisted with the arrest of Munro.

Munro was arraigned in the 77th District Court on Friday, Jan. 10.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet.
