TRAVERSE CITY - Residents in Traverse City have the opportunity to shape the heart of their downtown area.
The DDA is asking the public for their input through Imagine Rotary Square, which is an engagement initiative to design the open area on Union and State Street.
The half acre has been host to numerous smaller events since the property was bought back in 2019. The goal is to have a more formal and developed space.
“So far we’ve heard a lot of discussion about definitely want to make it active all year round,” says Traverse City DDA executive director Harry Burkholder. “So maybe next winter there’s an ice rink behind me. But having that survey is the first way to start that community discussion we want to make sure that this space is for the people of Traverse City. So the input that we receive from citizens is going to help create that vision for everybody.”
That survey can be completed here.
A conceptual design is expected by June 2025.
