Traverse City Light and Power honored for Hurricane Milton response

On Dec. 4, Traverse City Light and Power (TCLP) received a national commendation from the American Public Power Association for its support in electric power restoration efforts in Florida.

On Oct. 9, TCLP sent five lineworkers to assist a Florida municipal utility that suffered widespread outages as a result of Hurricane Milton. Recognizing the critical need for reliable electricity during disaster recovery, TCLP’s team worked alongside other utility providers to repair infrastructure and bring relief to impacted residents.

“TCLP will always be committed to supporting our neighbors in times of need,” said Andrew Bott, Line Superintendent. “Helping communities in need is part of who we are as utility workers. We’re proud to contribute our skills and expertise to bring power back to those in affected areas.”

TCLP participates in the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Network, which coordinates with utilities and authorities during widespread power outages.
