SAULT STE. MARIE - With just four days of planning, a Chippewa County teenager pulled together a gift giveaway to make Christmas a bit merrier for area kids.
Stephan Allen, 19, teamed up with Mike Piche to help distribute hundreds of toys at Piche’s Anytime Towing on Monday, Dec. 23.
Things didn’t go quite to plan, however, as Allen became ill at the event and had to go to the hospital.
The others at Anytime Towing took over for Allen, though, and handed out dozens of toys and food items.
Piche has known Allen for years and continues to be impressed by the young adult’s kindness.
“Good heart,” said Piche. “I mean, he’s definitely turned from being a young kid to turning the page. … You start off giving, you give and everything comes back to you.”
Piche is already looking forward to the next event at his business, his fourth annual Easter extravaganza. Last year 1,200 people attended that event.
