TRAVERSE CITY - Toys For Tots is looking for more donations during their last week of having drop-off locations.
Toys for Tots is an organization started by the Marine Corps Reserve more than 70 years ago. Their goal is to help children in need get toys on Christmas Day. The Northwest Michigan campaign give toys to more than 5,000 kids.
There are 100 drop-off locations in the area, and organizers say none of this happens without the generosity of the community.
“Not a year goes by when I’m not surprised by something that somebody does that, that an individual or a group. These are people who are giving their time. It’s all part of what makes this Christmas special,” says Mike Kent, assistant coordinator of Toys for Tots Northwest Michigan.
