On Monday, Nov. 25, at 6:43 p.m., the Clare County Central Dispatch received several emergency calls reporting a 17-year-old had been stabbed.
Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff Office responded to the 200 block of West Washington Road, where they found the boy.
They said the victim was riding in a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Farwell boy, Randolph Schaub, along with a girl. Deputies said Schaub and the victim began to argue, which led to Schaub punching him multiple times, strangling and stabbing him.
The victim was able to escape from the vehicle and later call for help. He was treated at the Clare ER for his injuries and released early the following morning.
Schaub and the girl were located a short time after the incident in the parking lot of the Farwell High School. The girl was uninjured, but said she had been trapped in the vehicle by Schaub.
Schaub was taken into custody. He was treated for minor injuries and lodged in the Clare County Jail on the charges of assault and unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned on Tuesday, Nov. 26. His bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
