MT. PLEASANT — The Friends of the Broadway announced a major step forward in restoring the historic Broadway Theatre after entering into a design-build contract with Three Rivers Corporation to begin a crucial HVAC renovation.
The HVAC renovation is an essential part of the revitalization plan to transform the Broadway Theatre into a modernized, comfortable, climate-controlled, year-round cultural hub for a diverse range of performances, events, and community gatherings.
“However, reaching our restoration goals will depend on the continued support of our community,” said Phillip Mikus, Friends chairperson.
Mikus said supporters of the Broadway Theatre can help fund these efforts in several ways including its “Adopt a Chair” program where patrons can dedicate a theatre seat to honor a loved one or celebrate their connection to the theatre, or by contributing to the project’s GoFundMe campaign which is helping fuel the progress needed to renovate the theatre fully.
Upcoming events at the Broadway Theatre include an event on Nov. 22 honoring Native American Heritage Month in which the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College will present a special movie screening, celebrating resilience, heritage and culture. Also, on Dec. 6 the Broadway Playhouse Kids will open a much-anticipated production of Frozen Jr. with performances scheduled over two weekends.
“Stay updated on our journey to restore the Broadway Theatre by following us on Facebook and Instagram, where we’ll be sharing the latest updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and opportunities to support this community-driven project,” Mikus said. “Thank you for your ongoing support in helping bring the Broadway Theatre back to life.”
