TRAVERSE CITY - The Grand Traverse Commission on Aging is hosting their annual Baskets of Bounty, the baskets are filled with donations brought in from the community and given to seniors that are typically lonely for the holidays.
The Age on Commission is looking for donations of nonperishable foods, jigsaw puzzles, paper towel and other necessities. They also accept monetary donations. The Commission on Aging is also looking for more seniors to donate baskets to. They are aiming to give baskets to around 130 seniors.
“I think people would be surprised to really realize how much neither is. I think things have been pretty tough out there and these items oftentimes are kind of basic items, but it’s such a help to them… And the joy that it brings is really important to us. That’s why we’ve done this program for so many years,” says Lana Payne, Director Grand Traverse Commission on Aging.
Donations are being accepted at the Grand Traverse Commission on Aging until November 22nd. Click here for more information.
