MANISTEE — Thousands of women from across the country rallied together for the Women’s March on Saturday to champion women’s rights and the importance of voting.
While the official march was in Washington, D.C., satellite marches took place throughout the country. One of those was in downtown Manistee.
Lisa Allen, one of the organizers, said she wants people to know the importance of voting in this year’s election.
“People need to vote and we want to make sure that people are voting. Whatever they believe in, It’s just important to vote. We also want to remind people that once you go into that voting booth, what you think and how you vote is private,” said Allen.
