Traverse City couple arrested for animal abuse of multiple dogs, Sheriff’s Office says

A Traverse City man and his fiancee were both arrested after Grand Traverse County deputies said they found malnourished dogs on their property.

Grand Traverse Animal Control got a call on Oct. 7 from Cherryland Humane Society when they received a dog that looked starved and beaten. The investigation got to the point where Animal Control asked the Sheriff’s Office to get involved.

After getting a search warrant, deputies found two more dogs that were malnourished on Oct. 21. They said the man’s mother expressed her concern about the dogs and abuse she witnessed.

The next day, deputies stopped the couple in their car while leaving the house and arrested them. The man is charged with intentional animal abuse and the woman is charged with animal neglect.
