Village of Kingsley breaks ground on Brownson Memorial Park reconstruction

KINGSLEY — The village of Kinsley held a groundbreaking Tuesday on reconstruction of Brownson Memorial Park.

The village was given a half million dollar grant from the ‘Michigan Economic Development Corporation’ to help fund the project.

While the village looked for input from the adults in the community, they also considered suggestions from kids who will play in the park. One of those kids helped with the groundbreaking, even donating his own birthday money to the project.

Village leaders said the community support is inspiring.

“This is just uplifting, [to] wake up and know that in some form or fashion you had part of something wonderful like this. To know that you’re doing something positive [in] small town America, and it’s going to be for the benefit of kids and adults for years to come,” said Dan Hawkins, former village manager.

The park is going to be accessible for all, and is expected to be completed by Memorial Day next year.
