MANTON — Construction has started on the new Manton branch of the Wexford Public Library.
Friends of the Manton Public Library began raising funds for the new building in 2019. On Tuesday, community members came together to celebrate the groundbreaking at the former VFW hall site.
The new library will be nearly 3,000 square feet with a children’s area, computer lab, genealogy research and much more.
“It’s a place for people to gather. It’s a place for people to learn. And, just get information. It’s not just about books. Obviously. They, are able to go there and find help from the librarians on just any number of things, teaching them how to apply online for jobs. The library is really the center of community support,” said Linda Kimbel, Friends president.
The library will be built using all local contractors and is expected to be open in the spring of 2025.
