September is Nation Suicide Prevention Month and there is no better time to discuss and demystify the stigma around seeking help, particularly when it comes to men. Men seek mental health services at a significantly lower rate than females due to a variety of factors but one of the main causes is simply the fear of making that first call.
That is why we are sitting down with Chad Allee from Michigan Therapy and Counseling to discuss the importance of not just making that first call, but walking through the doors for your first visit. It has been statistically proven that once you have that first session it becomes much easier to continue as you will realize, its no more complicated then sitting down for a chat with a friend.
If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts please call the national suicide prevention hotline at 988. If you would like to begin your healing journey, please visit the Michigan Therapy & Counseling website.
