In August, the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into fraud and theft.
The victim said while he away from his home for an extended time, someone stole most of his belongings including vehicles, tractors and boats. Large amounts of cash also went missing and fraudulent checks were drawn on his bank accounts.
In total the victim reported over $140,000 worth of money and property stolen.
The suspects were identified as a couple from Inkster, Michigan, one of them a former employee of the victim.
On Sept. 5, the county prosecutor issued 14-count felony warrants for Jeremy Cole Ray and Andrea Louise Ray. Charges include home invasion, check fraud, theft over $20,000, credit card and vehicle theft, forging vehicle titles, and fourth-degree child abuse. Both defendants were arraigned on the alleged charges and remain in jail.
Most of the stolen property was recovered through search warrants, but deputies said tens of thousands of dollars remain unaccounted for. If you have any information, please contact the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office at 989-275-5101.
