Mighty Leland Bridge Walk a success, organizers say

LEELANAU COUNTY — Several communities in Northern Michigan had bridge walks on Monday, including Leelanau County, where dozens of people took part in the Mighty Leland Bridge Walk.

Leelanau County commissioner and one of the organizers of the walk Kama Ross said people come from all over to enjoy what Leland has to offer, and Labor Day marks when things slow down, as they head into the offseason for tourism.

The walk is also a time to celebrate another successful summer season.

“Labor Day is kind of the start of when we kind of enjoy a slower pace and a few less visitors. It’s been a great, beautiful summer, wonderful summer. But now we’re kind of going into our nice, quiet time and we like to celebrate that together as a community,” said Ross.

This is the 25th year for the annual event, sponsored by the Leland Committee for Holiday Excitement.
