Isabella County deputies got a call on Monday night about a custody issue, when 6-year-old Rowan Milford Morey’s mother said his father was supposed to return him but had not.
Deputies responded to the father’s home in Chippewa Township but couldn’t find anyone. They checked back several times Tuesday trying to find the father or son. They said a detective eventually located a sibling that lived downstate, but the sibling couldn’t reach her brother either.
On Wednesday, the family came to check the home. Deputies said one of them decided to break out a window on a camper at back of the property.
Law enforcement got into the camper and found Rowan and his father, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. They are investigating the incident as a murder/suicide.
This case is still open and under investigation.
