ROSCOMMON COUNTY — Officials on Wednesday gave more details about the capture of the suspects.

While investigating July 23 around 3 a.m., Roscommon deputies said they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle in the area. The vehicle refused to stop, and the driver led deputies on a chase through the Prudenville area, deputies said.

Ultimately, two people exited the vehicle and ran on foot, leaving the suspect vehicle moving down the road still in gear, officials said.

Investigation eventually determined that the suspect vehicle had been stolen from a residence in Prudenville and that owner was not yet aware that it was missing, deputies said.

Sgt. Darsow and K9 Jett responded to the area of Arrowhead Drive. K9 Jett was deployed and began tracking the suspects through yards and down roadways in the Prudenville area, deputies said. The track continued through businesses and along the lake, until eventually leading to the entry door of a cabin.

Deputies located two suspects inside the cabin, and ultimately a search warrant was obtained for the residence, deputies said.

These incidents remain under investigation.

ROSCOMMON COUNTY — The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office, the Denton Township Police Department, and the Michigan State Police said Tuesday they have been participating in a joint investigation of multiple stolen vehicles, larcenies from vehicles and larceny of firearms in the Prudenville area.

Many vehicles were broken into during overnight hours on many occasions, and several vehicles were stolen over the last many months, deputies said.

Two juvenile suspects were charged by the Roscommon County Prosecutor’s Office for many of these crimes, deputies said.

Investigators believe many additional crimes carried out by the suspects went unreported. These incidents occurred throughout Prudenville in subdivisions along the M-55 corridor as well as in neighborhoods off of South Gladwin Road.
