Bomb scare rocks Mackinac Island; officials determine there’s no threat

MACKINAC ISLAND — On Saturday, July 27 around 6:35 p.m., Mackinac Island emergency response personnel were made aware of a bomb threat directed toward a location in the downtown area, police said.

Appropriate precautions were taken, and the threat was determined not to be credible, police said.

According to a statement from Straits Pride, the threat took place during a “Drag Queen Bingo” event at the Mackinac Island Community Hall. You can read the full statement below.

The police department said, “We appreciate the patience and cooperation from those impacted by this incident.”

Members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Michigan State Police, Michigan State Police - Cadillac Post/K9, Mackinac Island Police Department, Mackinac Island Fire Department, Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department, Mackinac County 911 & Emergency Management, Mackinac Island Emergency Medical Services, Mackinac Marine Rescue and Mackinac Island Carriage Tours assisted in resolving this incident.
