MECOSTA COUNTY — Late Sunday night, deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accidental firearm discharge in Green Township.
Police say a 13-year-old from Evart got a hold of a family member’s firearm and accidentally shot themself in the leg.
A family member helped the minor until first responders arrived, police said.
The juvenile was taken to DeVos Children’s Hospital for the non-life-threatening injury, police reported.
