Winter Weather Advisory:

For Antrim, Otsego, Kalkaska, Crawford, Charlevoix, Western Chippewa, Central Chippewa counties going into effect at 1PM today until 7PM tonight.

For Emmet, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee counties going into effect at 1PM today until midnight.

Lake effect snow expected throughout the afternoon/evening. With gusty winds visibility will be low with slick roadways.


This Morning: Blowing Snow

Winds continue to stay gusty for your morning drive.

This will help produce more lake effect showers, but also cause low visibility at times.

Expecting Northwest winds at 15-25 mph, with higher gusts.

Temps are in the teens, but feel-like temps are close to 0.

Today: More Snow

More lake effect will be around throughout the day.

Expecting periods of day skies, but remaining consistent in the U.P. and Tip of the Mitt.

Winds will stay from the NW as well so visibility will remain a concern.

Temps are in the mid-teen to mid-20s with windchills staying in the single digits.

Lake effect is expected to really pick up once again for the second half of the day.

That evening commute might be slow as roadways become slick and visibility is low.

Tonight: Scattered Snow

Another 1-4″ from this will be likely. Snowbelt counties like Kalkaska, Antrim, & Luce could pick up another 6″+ in isolated spots.

Roadways will be slick and snow covered, with blowing snow also being a concern.

Winds from the NW at 15-25 mph.

Lows Tuesday night from the upper single digits to near 20.

New Years: Some Lake Effect Snow, Cold

Lake effect snow chances will be likely throughout New Year’s and to round out the week.

Wednesday AM features some lingering snow with more lake effect snow into the PM.

Highs for NYE from the mid teens to mid 20s.

If you are heading out for any NYE festivities or parties, it will be cold!

Temps ringing in the new year will trend in the single digits & teens.

More lake effect snow showers in the U.P. & Tip of the Mitt New Year’s Day on Thursday.

Highs for New Year’s Day will stay in the low teens to low 20s.

Late Week: Isolated Lake Effect, Cold Start To 2026

Friday into Saturday still features more scattered lake effect snow showers.

Better coverage for the northern snowbelts. Otherwise, partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Highs Friday & Saturday from the mid teens to mid 20s.

Another possible system for Sunday evening into Monday could deliver more light snow.

Highs Sunday will stay in the 20s.

A touch warmer next Monday featuring for mid 20s to mid 30s.
