Recipe: French 75 Cocktail, Shady Lane Cellar Style!

Kasey Wierzba began her journey at Shady Lane Cellars as assistant winemaker in 2013, rose to winemaker in 2016 and earned her place as executive winemaker and general manager in summer 2022.

Prior to her work on Leelanau Peninsula, Wierzba spent seven years in Napa Valley. She worked as a viticulturist for Far Niente Winery and Nickel & Nickel Winery in Oakville, California; served as enologist at Rudd Oakville Estate; and vineyard manager at Frog’s Leap Winery.

Shady Lane Cellar Recipes:

French 75 (Shady Lane 75)

Makes 1

  • 1½ ounces Gin or Cognac
  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ ounce simple syrup
  • 2 ounces Shady Lane Cellars Sparkling Riesling
  • Long spiral lemon twist (for serving)

Step 1
Combine gin/Cognac, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.
Step 2
Strain cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer or a slotted spoon into a large flute. Top with Champagne; garnish with lemon twist

 

Hot Mulled Shady Lane Pinot

Makes 8 servings

  • 2 Bottles Shady Lane Cellars Pinot Noir
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Steeping Bag of Wine Country Mulling Spices

Simmer for at least an hour (do not boil). Serve in mugs with garnish.
