TRAVERSE CITY - The Bay Area Transportation Authority or BATA will be offering free rides to the polls on election day. this will be included on all its fixed route locations.
BATA has been giving free rides on election day since 2018 and just last year they had more than 900 free rides to the polls. BATA is hoping that by being open free to the public it will encourage more people to head to the polls to cast their vote.
“When you combine public transportation with election and voting, it’s kind of a good collaboration that way. And it’s important to have a solid public transportation system that provides community value, that ties into being able to cast your vote as well,” says Eric Lingaur, Bata Communications and Development Director.
BATA’s fixed rides include, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, and Leelanau County to see where you can catch click here.
