Lions QB Jared Goff named Pro Bowler for fifth time in his career

DETROIT - Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been named a Pro Bowler for the fifth time in his career, announced by the team on Monday. Goff will replace Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, who is unavailable due to preparations for the Super Bowl.

This selection marks Goff’s third Pro Bowl in the last four seasons, following an outstanding performance this year. He completed 68% of his passes, ranking second in the NFL with 4,564 passing yards and 34 touchdowns while limiting himself to just eight interceptions.

This season, Goff achieved a passer rating of 105.5 and established several franchise records. Notably, he set the record for the most consecutive games with a touchdown pass, throwing in 23 straight games. He also became the first Lions quarterback to record 30 or more touchdowns in three consecutive seasons.

In last year’s Pro Bowl Games, Goff excelled, being named the offensive MVP after the flag football game between the NFC and AFC and winning the precision skills passing challenge for the NFC. Despite Goff’s impressive individual statistics, the Lions finished the season with a nine-eight record, marking the first time since 2022 that they missed the playoffs despite achieving four straight winning seasons.
