Free outdoor ice rinks now open at Thirlby Field and other Traverse City locations

TRAVERSE CITY - Thirlby Field in Traverse City is home to 3 different football teams in the Fall, lacrosse teams during the spring, and is now open to all in the winter.

The East Parking lot has been carefully crafted into an outdoor ice rink, including nets, pucks, and hockey sticks. It’s free of charge, just bring your skates and go at any time of day, the rink remains lighted until 9 p.m.

It even features a warming house if skaters need a break, and it’s not the only location. There are also outdoor rinks on Rose Street and at F&M Park, each are kept maintained and will remain open until early March.
