SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State University has announced the hiring of Chelsea Cooke-Tripp as the new Head Volleyball Coach. A native of Norton Shores, Mich., Cooke-Tripp comes to Sault Ste. Marie after serving as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Adams State University in Colorado.
Cooke-Tripp expressed enthusiasm about her new role, stating, “So many things excited me about the opportunity to be at Lake State. The community, coaching staff, alumni, current players and the willingness of upper management to consistently make improvements all appealed to me. It truly feels like a place I will be able to call home for a long time.”
Before her tenure at Adams State, Cooke-Tripp served as an assistant coach at Marietta College. Under her leadership, the Pioneers achieved notable success, with their winning percentage increasing significantly and producing multiple OAC All-Conference players.
Cooke-Tripp earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ferris State University in 2013 and a master’s degree in athletic leadership from Clemson University in 2019.Cooke-Tripp’s playing career was distinguished; she started every match during her time at Glenville State University, where she also competed in track and field events. Her high school career included All-State Honorable Mention honors at Mona Shores High School.
