Former Lake Superior State University hockey captain Louis Boudon has been named to Team France’s Men’s Ice Hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, scheduled to take place from Feb. 11 to Feb. 22, 2026.
Boudon served as captain for the Lakers during the 2021 and 2022 seasons and made significant contributions with 39 goals and 75 assists in 139 NCAA Division I games. He was also a nominee for the Hobey Baker Award in both 2022 and 2023, recognizing his outstanding college hockey career.
Boudon has had a successful professional career, playing for several teams including the Laval Rocket, Iowa Wild, Iowa Heartlanders, Atlanta Gladiators and most recently, Jukurit in Finland’s Liiga. During his time with Atlanta, Boudon ranked fourth in scoring in the ECHL, leading his team in points and game-winning goals before the midseason transfer to Jukurit.
Before turning professional, Boudon played a pivotal role on the Lakers’ top line, helping lead the team to a WCHA Tournament Championship and an NCAA tournament appearance. His memorable collegiate highlights include scoring a powerplay game-winning goal in overtime against Northern Michigan on Jan. 9, 2021.On the international stage, Boudon has made 53 appearances for Team France, registering five goals and eight assists. He previously served as an assistant captain for the French U18 and U20 teams and took on the same leadership role at the 2025 IIHF World Championships.
Lake Superior State Head Coach Damon Whitten praised Boudon, saying, “Louis is the kind of person who earns everything he gets. His determination and work ethic set the standard every day and as our captain, he led by example in the way he prepared, competed and treated his teammates. Being named to the French Olympic team is a testament not only to his ability on the ice but to his character, leadership and commitment to continual growth. We’re incredibly proud of him and excited to see him represent his country on the Olympic stage.”
Boudon, who hails from Grenoble, France, follows in his father’s footsteps, Jerôme Boudon, who won the Magnus Cup championship in 1991. His selection to the Olympic team continues the proud tradition of Laker hockey at the highest levels of ice hockey.
