BIG RAPIDS — Ferris State University will host a community celebration on Jan. 12, 2026, to honor the football team’s NCAA Division II national championship win and the volleyball team’s successful postseason run.
Dubbed “Bulldog Spirit Day,” the event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the David L. Eisler Center.
The celebration will recognize the football team’s fourth national championship title and the volleyball team’s advancement to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the second consecutive year. Community members are encouraged to participate in the festivities alongside Ferris State students and employees.
Ferris State President Bill Pink has officially declared Jan. 12 as Bulldog Spirit Day. He invites all students, employees, alumni and supporters to wear Ferris State apparel and join in the celebration. “This is a time to showcase our Bulldog pride and come together as a community,” Pink said.
The football team finished its season undefeated, claiming their fourth championship trophy in five years and earning the top ranking in the nation. This remarkable achievement highlights the team’s dominance throughout the season as they continued to build on their legacy.
The volleyball team also had an impressive season, earning the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Title and making it to the elite eight for a second year in a row. These accomplishments add to the university’s growing reputation in collegiate athletics.
Attendees at Bulldog Spirit Day can expect a high-energy environment, including opportunities to take pictures with the championship trophies, enjoy a performance from the cheer and STUNT team, hear remarks from university leaders and enjoy snacks and fun surprises. Championship t-shirts and stickers will be available while supplies last.
Alumni are encouraged to participate in the festivities by sharing photos of themselves in Bulldog gear on social media and tagging Ferris State. This initiative fosters a sense of unity among alumni and the broader Ferris State community.
In addition to the campus celebration, plans are already being made for a victory parade this spring to continue the celebration of the teams’ achievements.
As the date approaches, detailed plans for the celebration and parade will be announced. Interested participants should keep an eye on the university’s communications for further updates.
