St. Ignace coaching legends Doug and Doreen Ingalls honored for decades of success

ST. IGNACE- Doug and Doreen Ingalls, who have collectively spent over 50 years coaching basketball at St. Ignace, are the newest members of the 2025 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame.

Doug Ingles retired as the boys’ head coach after the 2024 season, concluding his tenure with over 350 wins, ten district crowns, and 11 conference titles. Meanwhile, Doreen Ingalls continues to lead the Lady Saints, having achieved over 540 wins and guided the team to five state titles and nine championship appearances.

The Eagles family has been a cornerstone of the St. Ignace basketball programs, with Doug and Doreen Ingalls both earning Coach of the Year honors from the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. Their intense coaching style, influenced by their college backgrounds, has been a defining feature of their success.

Doug Ingalls, who assisted his wife when he wasn’t coaching the boys’ team, will join Doreen on the bench again this year as the Lady Saints look to build on their impressive 25-2 finish last season.

As the Lady Saints prepare to start their season on December 10th against Harbor Springs, the Ingalls family reflected on their legacy and contributions to the St. Ignace community.
