EAST LANSING — Michigan State University has launched FOR SPARTA: The Capital Initiative for MSU Athletics, a $1 billion campaign aimed at modernizing facilities and enhancing the student-athlete experience.
The initiative, part of the broader Uncommon Will. Far Better World campaign, is designed to position Michigan State as a leader in college athletics by investing in world-class facilities and experiences for student-athletes.
“FOR SPARTA sets a bold course for the future of Michigan State Athletics,” said MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D.
“This is the most ambitious initiative in Michigan State Athletics history,” said J Batt, MSU Vice President and Director of Athletics.

FOR SPARTA aims to provide strategic resources for facilities and overall program investment, allowing MSU to compete at the highest levels. The initiative includes several sport-specific facility improvements and shared spaces such as a student-athlete dining facility.
Spartan Fund donors will benefit from new premium spaces and options, enhancing the gameday experience for the Spartan community.
The campaign, which publicly launched in 2025, is expected to run until 2032, with $250 million already raised towards the $1 billion goal.

In December 2024, the MSU Board of Trustees approved the modernization of Spartan Stadium, with a $28 million project completed before the 2025 season to replace videoboards and renovate parts of the west tower.
Other projects include new outdoor tennis courts and a rowing training center, with the courts ready for play in September 2025 and the rowing center opened in spring 2024.
