OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI — Former Ferris State National Champion and now Ole Miss senior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has been named a co-winner of the SEC Offensive Player of the Week award following his standout performance in the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State.
Chambliss delivered his best passing game of the season last Friday, completing 23 of 34 passes for 359 yards and four touchdowns, leading Ole Miss to victory.
In addition to his impressive passing stats, Chambliss also contributed 26 rushing yards, amassing a total of 385 yards of offense in the game.
This performance marks his seventh 300-yard passing game in just 10 starts this season. Chambliss’s efforts have placed him as the seventh Ole Miss quarterback to surpass 3,000 passing yards in a single season, currently ranking 11th on the school’s single-season list with 3,016 yards. He also ranks 10th in total offense with 3,486 yards.
Since becoming the starter in Week Three, Chambliss has averaged 348.6 yards of total offense per game, with a 300-yard average in SEC play.
Ole Miss, currently ranked No. 5 with an 11-1 record, awaits its postseason fate, with the final College Football Playoff selection set for Dec. 7.
Should they make the CFP, they will do so without Lane Kiffin, who is no longer with the team after accepting the head coaching position at LSU. Defensive Coordinator Pete Golding has been named the new head coach and will lead the Rebels into the postseason.
