Lions defeat Giants in overtime thriller, 34-27

DETROIT — The Detroit Lions needed overtime to dispatch of the two-win New York Giants 34-27.

Detroit used a 59-yard field goal by Jake Bates to force bonus football.

The Lions opened OT on offense and Jahmyr Gibbs went 69 yards on the opening play for what would prove to be the game-winning score.

Detroit improved to 7-4 and now will get ready to host division rival Green Bay in a pivotal division showdown on Thanksgiving.
