Kingsley Volleyball claims 1st-ever state championship, Football team advances to Ford Field

CADILLAC, BATTLE CREEK — The Kingsley Football team began Saturday’s action on what was a massive day for Kingsley athletics.

The Stags faced undefeated Kent City in the Division 6 Semifinals, where the winner would advance to Ford Field.

The game was tied at half, but the Stags got a 3rd quarter pick-six and and fourth-quarter touchdown run, paired with their dominant defense, to nab a 14-0 win and advance to the State Championship game.

After the game, head coach Tim Wooer hustled over to Battle Creek to watch his daughter, Sarah and the Kingsley Volleyball team compete in the Division 3 State Finals game. Sarah is a senior setter for the Stags.

After losing the opening set, Kingsley dominated the next three and brought home their first state title in program history.

9&10 News caught up with volleyball coach Dave Hall, who finally accomplished the ultimate goal in his 27th year leading the team, and football coach Tim Wooer.
