SAULT STE. MARIE — Vanessa Swerdon, a senior setter at Lake Superior State University, received an Honorable Mention All-GLIAC award, as announced by the league on Friday.
Swerdon, originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, demonstrated exceptional passing and leadership throughout the 2025-26 season. She achieved 100% passing efficiency during the first six matches and maintained perfect passing in the final eight contests.
Her defensive contributions included 125 digs, and she scored eight service aces in the last six matches.
Swerdon averaged 4.08 assists per set over 71 sets and 1.76 digs per set.
Swerdon showcased her skills at the Mankato Tournament on September 13th, delivering 23 assists and seven digs against Minnesota-Crookston. She achieved a season-high nine digs in matches against Davenport on October 10th, William Jewell at the Midwest Regional Crossover on October 18th, and Grand Valley State on November 8th.
Throughout her career at LSSU, Swerdon averaged 4.74 assists per set across 171 sets, along with 1.66 digs per set. She also accumulated 44 service aces and 28 kills.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Swerdon excels academically as a marketing major and was named to the 2024 GLIAC Volleyball All-Academic Team.
The 2025 list is expected to be released in the spring.
