Detroit Lions fall to 5-3 after loss to Vikings

DETROIT — A sluggish looking offense and a season high 10 penalties doomed the Detroit Lions in a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday in Detroit.

The Lions now sit at 5-3 and could not take advantage of a Green Bay Packer loss to move to the top of the NFC North.

Quarterback Jared Goff threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns but the ground game never got going for the Lions as David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for just 65 yards and one score.

Detroit is back on the road next Sunday to face the Washington Commanders, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs earlier this year.
