Northern Michigan — Week 2 of the high school football sports season brought us more action on the gridiron, as well as action on the soccer field.
Gaylord 21, Kingsley 14
The Kingsley Stags and Gaylord Blue Devils were featured as our Baker Auto of Cadillac Game of the Week, each team was 1-0 entering the night.
It was a back-and-forth game, but Gaylord picked up the road win and moves to 2-0 on the year. The Blue Devils will be home against Marquette next week, and the Stags will host Grayling.
Grand Haven 14, Traverse City West 32
Traverse City West was hoping to rebound after a loss to Howell last week. They hosted Grand Haven at Thirlby Field and picked up a statement win.
The Titans will head to Bay City Central next week.
Brimley 8, Pickford 57
Pickford put up 58 points in their win last week; they hosted Brimley, who lost to St. Ignace in their first contest. Pickford would come up one point shy of their week 1 total in another win.
The Panthers will be at Newberry next week, and the Bays will be at home against Ontonagon.
North Dickinson 52, Rudyard 7
The Rudyard Bulldogs lost their opener against Gaylord St. Mary’s and could not right the ship against North Dickinson, falling to 0-2.
The Bulldogs will be at Munising next week.
Traverse City Bulldogs 1, Buckley 2
In Soccer, the Traverse City Bulldogs were looking for their first win of the year against 3-2 Buckley and would fall in a close matchup.
