BIG RAPIDS - On Tuesday afternoon the Ferris State Bulldogs introduced Bobby Pietrack as the next head coach of their men’s basketball team. Pietrack comes by way of Fort Lewis College in Colorado, where he was the head coach from 2015-2024, winning 3 regular season and conference titles and leading his squad to 5 March Madness appearances. He had an overall record of 189-75, a 72% winning percentage, which is ranked in the top ten among D2 coaches. He talked about what made the opportunity to coach at Ferris State so special.
“Everything appeals to me. You know, when you walk around campus and you see the We Build Champions logo and if you’re a basketball coach or any type of coach that’s had success, you’re like, we build champions well great. I’m going to be a fish in water here. I can’t wait to get started,” said Pietrack.
One current player on the Ferris State team, Cole Vickers, is looking forward to the new era.
“From the first time he texted us, called us. Just very welcoming, want all of us to feel comfortable with him and get to know him. So, it’s been great, I’m really excited for, how this is going to go,” said Vickers.
Pietrack needs to assemble his roster, as well as a coaching staff ahead of the season, something that he’s looking forward to.
