TAMPA BAY — Bear Lake head football coach Samantha Mullet is down in Tampa Bay working with the Bucs organization after being selected to their second annual national coaching academy.
Though it says national, coaches from all over the world were selected to be a part of the 25 to go to Tampa to learn and be a part of the Buccaneers’ rookie minicamp.
The academy began on May 5 and since then, Mullet has had the chance to learn from NFL legends such as Tony Dungee, Bruce Arians and more, and is excited to take what she learned back to Bear Lake.
“The first day, of course, you’re always, you know, as they say around here, drinking from a fire hose.
You’re just trying to take in as much as you can and hope to get something that sticks.
So, mornings, we’ve been doing just a little bit of film review and things like that with the vets around. The walk-through practice and stuff like that. And then in the afternoon, the academy coaches have been doing seminars, presentations. So we’ve had, like, Tony Dungy, Ronde Barber, we did one a couple of days ago, and Jon Gruden was here. We ran some plays on the field. So that was fun.
Those seminars have been on, you know, the player-coach relationship and how do you develop this and how you make sure that this characteristic comes out in your players?
Even with it being eight-man, 11-man. There are techniques you can share and drills and things that we’ve just been able to bounce off each other. And
And then we have some closing ceremonies here and then back to Bear Lake to get rocking on season nine" (Mullet).
The academy will wrap up on May 11.
