CEDARVILLE/DETOUR- In 2022 the Cedarville and Detour school districts signed an agreement to co-op athletics between the two small schools that are 25-miles apart from one another.
In years prior Cedarville was in a co-op with Pickford for both baseball and softball that would dissolve five years ago, while Detour had neither program.
Just like the Pickford co-op, Cedarville and Detour have now come together to field varsity baseball and softball teams. They began with middle school teams last year and found success and are hoping to replicate it at the varsity level.
“We’re excited. We are so appreciative of the work that Heritage Park has done over in Cedarville to get the fields up and running. All the communities are super excited to have the fields next to each other. There is a lot of energy building up and we are super excited to get the kids out there playing” (Sarah Galarowic, Cedarville/Detour Athletic Director).
“It’s a start up program. We are starting from scratch, so we are trying to do the little things right. We know we are not going to win every game, but we are going to get better every game and so far we have. That’s all that matters” (Bob Lohff, Cedarville superintendent, head baseball coach).
