Northern Michigan natives to play in Central Michigan’s Spring Game

MOUNT PLEASANT - On Saturday afternoon the Central Michigan football team will play their spring game and a couple of Northern Michigan products are expected to see the field.

Charlevoix’s Landon Swanson is a redshirt freshman linebacker and John Burke is a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman. Swanson has grown a lot since being on campus and has made strides in spring ball, while Burke has dealt with injuries in the past and is getting healthier by the day. They both talked about being from Northern Michigan and having the chance to play division one football.

“Coming from a small town, it’s pretty amazing. Like I think it’s one of the coolest things in the world, I get to come down here, play with all these guys that are from like huge schools. Like it’s just crazy to me that I can compete at this level but just goes to prove that you can do anything you set your mind to,” said Swanson.

“You know, compared to Sault Saint Marie football. We we’re playing really hard driving every game 3.5 hours playing eight-man teams or whatever. It’s crazy I mean, when I first stepped on campus here, it was like a complete culture shift. Like, I had no idea, like, what I was expecting, really. I kind of, you know, went through that first semester, I’m like, okay, I kind of get it. Now, that first year I kind of I was kind of at the point where I wanted to be,” said Burke.

The Spring game is set for noon on Saturday.
