GAYLORD - The Gaylord Blue Devils softball team are the back-to-back state champs in division 2 after winning the state championship in 2023 & 2024. Gaylord is looking to threepeat in 2025, and they return 7 players from last year’s team, with 6 seniors, including reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Michigan, Aubrey Jones. Jones is committed to Oklahoma State and led the nation in home runs last year with 26. Another key player for the Blue Devils this year will be Kennedy Wangler, a first baseman and outfielder committed to Ferris State. Head coach Ron Moeggenberg is in his 2nd year leading the team and he knows that they’ve set a high standard and now need to live up to it.
“Goals don’t change. The culture we have here doesn’t change from year to year. Even after this year, we’ll keep the same culture, and every year it’s championship or bust,” Said Moeggenberg.
The Blue Devils first time on the field was Thursday, and they’ll play their first game Saturday against St. Johns.
